I have retired from the University of Auckland, though I still co-teach a Medical Humanities course, entitled ‘Unexamined Metaphors, Uncharted Stories’ to 3rd-year medical students and serve as examiner for PhD dissertations at other universities.
I continue to be very busy researching, writing, lecturing and organizing conferences in the broad fields of narrative and metaphor.
I am happy to offer lectures and interviews on my areas of expertise, and am open to invitations to collaborate with colleagues in universities around the world in the organization of conferences on narrative and metaphor in disciplines not yet covered by the Narrative/Metaphor Nexus.
Copies of the DVD generated by the “Creativity in Exile” project are available (for the cost of international postage only) from me. The 100-minute disk contains performances of music and poetry, interviews, film extracts, and an audio installation, by writers and artists, forced out of their own countries by civil war, political repression, or ethnic and religious persecution.
